KotoVPN

Glossary

Anonymous signup

Creating an account without providing an email address, name or other identifying detail.

Why it matters

A subscription tied to an email and a card recreates the identity link a VPN is supposed to break, in the provider’s own billing records.

What most explanations leave out

The payment trail is usually the weak point, not the account. A random account number paired with a card payment still identifies you through the processor. Cash and some cryptocurrency payments close that; most cryptocurrencies are less anonymous than their reputation suggests.

Related terms

No-logs policy

A provider’s commitment not to record which sites you visit, when you connected, or what address you connected from.

Jurisdiction

The country whose law governs the company operating the VPN, which determines who can compel it and by what process.

Terms are defined here because they appear in our scoring rubric or in provider reviews, not to fill a glossary.
